Meet Award-Winning Author - Abena Beloved Green

The Book:

The Way We Hold On by Abena Beloved Green. Abena’s debut book of poetry is one of the most sough after books to hit the shelves. Throughout the pages are powerful, thought-provoking and mind consoling poems about holding on and letting go—of ideas, opinions, beliefs, people, places, and things. Her poems address cultural, social, and environmental issues, relationships, and reflect on everyday life as a small-town raised, semi-nomadic, first-generation Canadian.

 

The Author:

Abena Beloved Green, is a writer, poet, and dancer who grew up in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. She uses spoken word and dance to create, engage, and elevate.  Abena is the third-place finalist in the 2017 Canadian Individual Poetry Slam (Verses Festival of Words) and the 2016 poetry prize winner of the Atlantic Writing Competition (now Nova Writes).  She is a two-time member of the Halifax slam time in competed in the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in 2011 and 2016. Her first book of poetry, The Way We Hold On (Pottersfield Press, 2018) was released in March 2018.
