Darn Feminine Hygiene

On the way home from a drooling [should be grueling?] soccer practice, all I could think about was jumping into the shower and washing this ton of sweat from my body. As I opened the door and threw my gear on the floor I heard the tail end of a television commercial advertising a new kind of feminine deodorant. I rushed into the TV room to watch the ad, just as the woman’s voice said, “and it also comes in shower fresh scent.” I was trying to be patient and wait for the name to pop back up and just when they were going to show the product my mom walked in front of me and kissed me on the cheek and said, “hop to it if you’re coming with us to the mall.” All I heard was the ending of the ad saying “25% more effective at absorbing odors and moisture.”

Later that day I found myself in the deodorant aisle of the store, searching for the one I saw on TV, which was supposed to make you smell shower fresh. I never really read the labels. I just saw “25% more effective at absorbing odors and moisture,” so I just gave it a little spray, smelled it and then bought it.

Well, my embarrassing moment came days later. A bunch of girls were all going to the movies after practice and the game plan was that we all wash and change at my house.

One of the girls asked if anyone had deodorant and I quickly yelled “Here, try my new one. I’ve been using it for days now and just like the ad said…it really leaves you smelling shower fresh.”

Within seconds came the first giggle or two, and then came an explosion of laughter…directly at me with their fingers pointing towards the deodorant can.

Oh, if I only took the time to read the label, then I would have seen the writing, which read… “feminine deodorant spray.” You know, the stuff you use…for the parts down below. – Lil’ J, Halifax
